What support will my EAL child receive?
We would like to ensure your child settles into our school as quickly as possible to enable them to access the full curriculum and feel happy and content.
When your child joins us for the first time we recommend that you come with them on their first day to drop them off. This will help them feel more confident in what can be a daunting process for young children who are experiencing very unfamiliar environments and language. You will be warmly welcomed.
Your child will be given time to settle into their new class and school. Your child's English will then be assessed by their class teacher and support will be provided appropriately for your child to work towards small achievable targets supporting their English acquisition in terms of speaking, listening, reading and writing.
